TVB held this year's Miss Hong Kong Pageant Overseas Recruitment Press conference. Skye Chan, Sandy Lau, Germaine Li and Shirley Yeung etc attended the event. TVB executive Mr Ho Lai Chuen declared that the maximum age requirement has been altered to under 28 years old. As long as the contestant has a Hong Kong Identity Card they are welcome to apply and need not be a permanent resident of Hong Kong. Even models who are under contracts are eligible to apply.

The reporter asked whether they altered the rules due to attract more beautiful girls to participate in the competition? Ho Lai Chuen said "We just want to attract more pretty girls to apply. It will also give them more time to graduate from their studies". In addition, Skye Chan appeared on the recruitment poster along with the other Miss Hong Kong winners, due to replacing Edelweiss Cheung.
